3 Things I Don't Buy Now That I Have a Capsule Wardrobe

May 21, 2020

A few years ago I came across the documentary Minimalism and that got me interested in learning more about capsule wardrobes. I started to research the topic and absolutely fell in love with the idea. I did a massive purge and greatly reduced the number of items in my wardrobe and over the past 3 years, I’ve continued to refine my capsule wardrobe. I’m extremely happy that I made this change and I’ve explained why in blog posts and on my YouTube channel. Today, I wanted to share 3 things I no longer buy now that I have a capsule wardrobe.

1.  Buy sale or clearance items

Before learning about minimalism and capsule wardrobes, I would always buy things simply because they were on sale. I didn’t need them or even really want them. They were just such a great price, that I didn’t want to pass on the opportunity of getting a good deal. Now I’ve realized that there will always be sales and there’s no need to buy things I don’t need or...

5 Benefits of Building a Capsule Wardrobe for Kids

May 14, 2020

I love having a capsule wardrobe for myself and truly believe that kids should have one too. There are many benefits of having a capsule wardrobe and today I’ll be sharing why I think children should have one. First off, let me explain what a capsule wardrobe is. It’s basically a wardrobe that consists of a limited number of pieces. There is no set number, you would just choose what works for you and your family. The pieces in the wardrobe are usually neutral colours and classic styles that can easily be mixed and matched.

My husband and I started creating our capsule wardrobes in 2017 and when I saw how great it was, I slowly started to create one for my kids as well. They have a lot of clothes and often get gifts, so it is more difficult to create one for them, but I’m constantly working at it because the positives outweigh the negatives.

1. Save Time

The greatest benefit of having a capsule wardrobe is that you will save a ton of time. Since your...

5 Great Reasons Why You Should Have A Capsule Wardrobe

Oct 17, 2019

Donating the majority of my clothes and creating a capsule wardrobe has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I can’t even think of anything negative about having a capsule wardrobe and if it’s something you’ve been debating, stop thinking about it and do it!

I could probably list a hundred reasons why everyone should have a capsule wardrobe, but since I’m working on being minimal in most aspects of my life, I’ll do the same with this blog post and only list my top 5 reasons why.

1. Save Time

The greatest benefit of having a capsule wardrobe is that you will save a ton of time. You will love everything in your closet and everything will coordinate, so you won’t waste time trying to figure out what to wear. Anything you grab will look great! You also won’t waste time doing a ton of laundry or spend hours folding and ironing.

In this video, I shared some tips on how to look good in less time. Having a capsule wardrobe was one of...

Mistakes I Made When I Created My Capsule Wardrobe

Aug 14, 2019

A few years ago I did a major purge and created a capsule wardrobe. I'm often asked if I ever regret getting rid of so many of my clothes. And the truth is, NOT AT ALL! It is one of the BEST things I've ever done! In this video, I talk about the positives of having a capsule wardrobe, so I won't get into that here.

As for the negatives, to be honest, I never experienced any. So I can't share anything negative about creating a capsule wardrobe. I guess the one downside is that when you first do it, it can be a bit overwhelming and it takes some time and effort. But once you get through the initial purge, it only gets easier.

There were some things I wish I never did when I first created my capsule wardrobe and I'm going to share those mistakes so that you can avoid making them too.

MISTAKE #1: TRYING TO SELL THE STUFF I DIDN'T WANT

This was so time-consuming and I barely made any money. Unless you have a closet full of Versace, I would not bother trying to sell the clothes that...
